Dentistry

If you’re not properly caring for your pet’s teeth and gums, you could be placing them at a much greater risk of developing dental problems, including periodontal disease, a serious condition that can affect your pet’s entire body. Healthy Pet Veterinary Hospital wants to help your pet enjoy a lifetime of good oral health. A commitment to dental care, both professionally and at home, can help extend and improve your pet’s life.

Our staff is well trained and experienced in all aspects of pet dentistry. We offer comprehensive preventative care, such as complete dental examinations of the teeth and gums, as well as cleaning and polishing of the teeth to keep tartar and plaque at bay and reduce the risk of your pet developing dental problems over time. We’ll also work with you to provide advice and guidance on techniques you can use at home to manage your pet’s oral health in between vet visits.

In addition to preventative dental care, we also offer a broad range of advanced dental treatments and oral surgical specialties to address existing oral problems. This may require a referral to Dr. Kavanagh, at Village Animal Clinic in Farmington. Oral specialty services include periodontics (prevention and treatment of diseases surrounding the tooth and supporting structures); treatment of bacterial, yeast, fungal and viral infections; digital radiology (x-ray); medical cases involving salivary glands; temporomandibular diseases (TMJ); and a broad range of surgical procedures to treat disease and repair damage.

Pets receiving any type of dental care, including routine cleanings, must be anesthetized during the process. The anesthetic products we use have been carefully chosen for their safety, minimal side effects and synergy when combined with other drugs so that patients can safely receive maximum pain relief. All pain management protocols are customized for each patient based on their age, breed, current health, medical history and any diseases that may be present. Our highly skilled technicians are always on hand to closely monitor dental patients using modern equipment to ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Keeping up with your pet’s dental health does more than just prevent bad breath. It can actually improve the chances of your pet enjoying a long, healthy life. Let us work with you to help your pet achieve a lifetime of happy, healthy smiles!
